What needed
solving
A Dubai tech startup had secured seed funding to build a B2B SaaS platform but had no technical co-founder or CTO. The founding team — commercial and domain specialists — were being offered wildly varying technical proposals from development agencies, with costs ranging from AED 150K to AED 800K for what appeared to be similar scope. They needed a trusted technical voice to assess proposals, define the architecture, and build the in-house team before hiring an internal CTO.
What we built
We embedded as fractional CTO for a 6-month engagement. We defined the system architecture, selected the tech stack (Next.js, PostgreSQL, Railway, Vercel), reviewed and reduced the agency proposals to a fair AED 220K scope, hired and onboarded two senior engineers, established the development workflow (GitHub, Linear, weekly demos), and remained available as the technical decision-maker throughout the MVP build. The MVP launched 6 weeks ahead of the original agency timeline.
