GreenField Farms
Crop monitoring, Romania
What needed
solving
A Romanian crop farm spanning mixed arable and polytunnel growing areas had invested in soil moisture sensors but was reading the data manually from a web dashboard twice per day. During an unusually dry summer, slow response to soil moisture dips led to a significant crop loss in one field. The farm manager recognised that reactive manual monitoring was insufficient and that the sensor investment needed to be backed by intelligent automation.
What we built
We integrated the existing sensor network with a custom alert engine. Soil moisture, temperature, and rainfall readings are evaluated in real time against crop-specific threshold profiles. When readings breach thresholds, the system determines irrigation priority, schedules pump activation via the existing irrigation controller API, and notifies the field manager with a concise context brief. A weekly summary report is emailed to the farm owner every Sunday with trend analysis and upcoming weather-adjusted recommendations.
